More fear than harm for the crew of this Airbus 319, who made a quick one-hour flight on Tuesday morning in Brazil, between Rio de Janairo and São Paulo.
Everything was going smoothly until the crew realized that the inside wheel of the left gear was no longer there.
And this, during the landing phase towards Congonhas airport.
From there, staff and authorities, remotely, decided to divert the aircraft to Guarulhos International Airport, also in Sao Paolo.
Objective ?
Be able to perform a visual check of the landing gear over the new runway.
The fears are confirmed: if everything is correct, a wheel is indeed missing.
If a security perimeter was deployed at the edge of the runway, the pilot was able to land the aircraft normally.
An investigation must determine the causes of this failure.
The missing wheel was found not far from Santos Dumont airport.
