A 52-year-old man living in Mouthiers-sur-Boëme, in Charente, was indicted and imprisoned on Friday February 9 for several rapes and sexual assaults on minors, the Angoulême public prosecutor's office said.
The investigation by the Angoulême gendarmerie company, opened following a complaint from the mother of a child, made it possible to identify seven victims since the beginning of the 1980s. The accused allegedly began his actions at the age of 13.
The prosecution specifies that he would have attacked children, girls and boys, from his own family but also a young neighbor.
He is indicted for aggravated rape of minors under 15, incestuous rape, sexual assault and corruption of minors.
The prosecution specifies that his mother, in her seventies, is indicted for failure to report crimes against minors.
She was placed under judicial supervision.
The investigation continues to determine if there are other victims.
