Camilla, the wife of Charles III, said Thursday that the king, suffering from cancer, was doing “extremely well considering the circumstances” during a trip to the south of England.

The king “is doing extremely well given the circumstances,” the queen said during an official trip to Salisbury Cathedral, when a man told her he hoped her husband was doing well.

“He is very touched by all the letters and messages that the public has sent him from everywhere.

It’s very encouraging,” added Camilla.

During this trip, the Queen left Charles in the country residence of Sandringham, in the east of England, where the couple moved in on Tuesday.

Less than 18 months after acceding to the throne, the 75-year-old sovereign began treatment on Monday for a form of cancer which was not specified.

If he will continue some of his administrative functions, he will be absent from public life for an indefinite period.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak assured that the disease had been detected “early”.
