The Greens have already formed eight local associations in the district.

Now another one has been added: in Polling.

The board elections were carried out quickly – and unanimously.

Polling

– “I’m really excited,” said Martin Adler, spokesman for the district association of the Greens, and described the founding meeting at the Pollinger “Klosterwirt” as “a wonderful appointment.”

In the current “intense political times”, he – like his colleague and co-moderator of the evening, Katharina von Platen – is confident that he can strengthen the party presence in the district and the political center by founding another local association.

The eight founding members would form a “strong team,” said the district association’s leadership duo with hope for the future.

Although the party has had to contend with some headwinds in the recent past, “the Greens are concerned with issues that others do not have on their radar,” noted Katharina von Platen.

The Greens are “far more than just eco,” said the district association’s spokeswoman.

Different motivations

Paying a visit to the founding meeting was also a “matter of the heart” for the deputy parliamentary group leader of the Weilheim city council, Brigitte Gronau.

“The brown spirit is still with us,” she commented on the current political situation.

She therefore welcomes the founding of the ninth local association all the more.

During a round of introductions, those present examined their motivation and formulated political goals.

64-year-old Karoline Weber joined the Greens in particular as a reaction to the rise of right-wing parties and would like to counteract the trend.

Organic farmer Martin Albrecht comes “from a political family”, but after being a member of the CSU for many years, he can no longer identify with the party and therefore switched to the Greens four years ago.

Master brewer Fabian Schneider has also found a new political home base.

The 47-year-old, formerly of the SPD, is now planning a new political beginning with the Greens.

“I want to make a difference,” he said.

Herbert Leistner (37), who has been voting green for a long time and “likes to tackle something,” feels the same way.

“You can’t always just say that something has to change and then do nothing yourself,” said Tatiana Morlock, describing her motivations.

She hopes to be able to achieve more in a village like Polling than in the metropolis of Munich.

Board elected unanimously

Katharina Noack has set herself the goal of “strengthening democracy”.

The AfD's political voice worries her, which is why she wants to do something - also for the sake of her children's future.

33-year-old Hannah Hetherington also cares about the next generation.

In particular, “the climate issue scares me,” she said.

Udo Censkowsky, for his part, considers the rise of right-wing parties to be “terrifying”.

Political dividing lines are already dividing entire families, he regretted, which is why we urgently need to “keep talking.”

Then the time had come: “Now you are founded,” announced Martin Adler.

The board elections then took place quite quickly and without any dissenting votes.

Gender-equally distributed, Tatiana Morlock and Fabian Schneider take over the chairmanship of the local association as speakers.

Katharina Noack will take up the position of secretary in the future.

“Now it’s important that we take the citizens with us,” said Morlock.

Only together can we make a difference.

“That says everything,” agreed Fabian Schneider.

“I wish you a lot of fun, because without fun you can’t do politics,” explained Martin Adler.

“Share your energy!” was his final appeal.
