A dangerous situation arose in Franconia in mid-January - provoked by a drone.

A debate about this was now gaining momentum, initiated by the affected Erlangen University Hospital.

Erlangen - After a serious accident in Franconia, a rescue helicopter was unable to land at the relevant site in mid-January 2024.

The rescue workers were only able to treat the seriously injured patient at a landing site several kilometers away.

According to the Erlangen University Hospital, the fault for the disturbed landing was a drone that unknown people flew over the scene of the accident.

This is exactly what led to a debate.

Because: In emergency care, every minute counts, explains a press release from the university hospital published on Monday (February 5th).

“It is not only annoying, but also grossly negligent if the rescue chain is disrupted by careless behavior,” emphasizes Stefan Brunner, who is responsible for occupational safety at Erlangen University Hospital.

In the wake of this accident, the university hospital provided information about flight bans around hospitals and presented a new regulation on how pilots can still obtain a permit to fly.
