Four students between the ages of 15 and 16 were seriously injured in an accident involving a school van in Salzgitter.
According to the investigators' initial findings, the driver, who was "obviously under the influence of alcoholic beverages," lost control of the minibus on Friday morning, the police said.
Salzgitter - The vehicle then crashed into a tree.
A breath alcohol test on the 50-year-old driver showed a level of almost one per mille.
He was also seriously injured in the accident.
According to reports, a blood sample was taken and his driver's license was confiscated.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
