In these terms and in the intimacy of a tour in which, due to the time difference, he has only been sleeping for a few hours, President Javier Milei did not hesitate while watching the clipping of a video in which the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, during an interview with LN+ he talked about the possibility of “a merger” with the PRO.
Milei retweeted that video before boarding the Israel Airlines flight LY-383 that brought him to Italy, where he will hold a meeting with his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, and the bilateral meeting with Giorgia Meloni, the far-right prime minister who days ago highlighted her “fascinating personality” and attributed to him “an extraordinary passion.”
Although in the next few hours he will also be focused on what will be his audience on Monday with Pope Francis, starting next Tuesday, when he returns to Buenos Aires,
Milei will focus on his intention to finalize “a merger with the PRO”, with the objective of providing greater strength to its administration
from the opening of ordinary sessions.
This week, journalist Ignacio Miri had raised the hypothesis of an agreement in Clarín, which would be viewed favorably with Mauricio Macri.
In that sense, the head of state admits the importance of the conversations he plans to have with Mauricio Macri to come to fruition before March 1:
“It would be very good for an interblock to be organized between La Libertad Avanza and the PRO to start in “ordinary things with a different force
,” was the message he conveyed.
His troops have already been warned and according to the president it is a natural process, in which “there is almost no important ideological difference.”
“That's what he said during the campaign and that bothered some people.
"It's us and the hawks of the PRO and radicalism, without the popcorn," he explained - as Clarín learned - in an exchange
he had on the plane, before reclining seat 1C and taking the opportunity to sleep for a while on the fifth day outside of Argentina.
Why the merger now and not when he took office on December 10?, this newspaper asked that interlocutor, who explained that Milei understands that the rejection of the omnibus law opened an opportunity for him to divide the waters clearly before the people.
“It became clear that on one side are the ideas of freedom and on the other those of caste,” as he said in the campaign.
On the other hand, they say that he considers that two months later it has already been proven that he is the one who governs and that the references to a “second time” for Macri have no basis.
However, he told his people that the agreement will result in gestures of generosity with his allies.
“He said that he is not one of those who want places just for himself, that he is going to open his arms to all leaders who contribute ideas in favor of freedom,” said the unobjectionable source.
Milei usually highlights the “in-depth” bond he has with Macri and, although he admits that the details will be the product of “pending conversations he has” with the former president, he trusts that “everything is given” to reach an understanding with the PRO.
On this point, officials of the delegation make a reservation that they consider “not minor”: “The agreement is with Macri and Bullrich, Javier does not want to be in the middle of the partisan discussion that they have.”
If a merger advances,
a possible interbloc of La Libertad Avanza would add at least 75 deputies, but the Government is enthusiastic about the idea that this could generate a contagion effect with some radicals with a harder profile
who want to jump.
They rule out, in this context, those who line up behind the president of the party, Martín Lousteau, and also the legislators of the Civic Coalition, of Elisa Carrió.
“With that number it would be easier to pass a law: it is not the same as starting to talk to 38 deputies,” they say in the ruling party.
Such is Milei's intention to reach an agreement with Macri that he even dares to try names for that eventual interblock.
