Things are slowly getting serious: the excavators are scheduled to roll in in March for the construction of a new double hall at the Weilheim high school.
Many companies are interested.

- The prerequisite for demolition work to begin on today's gymnasium building is of course that the weather cooperates, said Dominik Detert, press spokesman for the district office, when asked by the local newspaper.
Otherwise the preparations went well.
The district council agreed in the fall that the planning had been completed, the implementation planning was almost complete, and the first tenders for the work were currently underway.
The district office is registering a positive turnaround, says Detert.
While in recent years it was often the case that hardly any companies applied for contracts in response to public tenders, participation is now greater.
Detert didn't say in detail whether this would have a concrete impact on construction prices, but said that it had "actually worked well so far".
Many organizational questions still remain unanswered
A few years ago, a tender for the construction of the vocational school in Weilheim had to be canceled because the offers were significantly higher than the planned costs.
In recent years in particular, it has repeatedly happened that public construction projects have become significantly more expensive than planned because construction prices have risen massively.
However, after the strong inflationary surges of the past two years, the private construction sector has declined significantly.
That is why public contracts are now becoming more attractive again for many companies.
If the demolition work begins in March, a number of organizational questions still need to be clarified by then.
Among other things, how physical education can be secured for the students of the Weilheim high school during the construction phase.
According to Detert, the planning is still underway here and we are investigating which other gymnasiums can free up capacity so that the students can do their physical education lessons.
Opening no earlier than 2026
However, it will be a while before the high school students can train again in the new double gym.
As Detert reported when asked, the interior work on the new building is scheduled to last from summer 2025 to summer 2026.
The project had already started after years of delay.
First, no suitable location was found for a long time, then the completely finished plan for a 2+1 hall was thrown into the trash because the costs had gotten completely out of hand.
The new construction of the double gymnasium is probably the district's largest investment outside of the hospital GmbH in the coming years.
