The new Scherer hall will be significantly larger than the current hall - also due to drastically increased building regulations. A parking garage is also planned to replace the current parking lot. ASV Dachau urgently wants a spectator area for its new Georg Scherer Hall.

A simple school sports hall would almost certainly not have this.

The ASV Dachau and the school in Dachau-Süd are eagerly waiting for a new gymnasium.

There are plans for a new Georg Scherer Hall.

But whether they will ever be realized is questionable.

The ASV therefore wants to help – with its own resources.

Dachau

– The new construction of the Georg Scherer Hall on the ASV site has overcome another hurdle.

After the result of a realization competition was announced in December, the city council's construction and planning committee decided on Tuesday to put the planning services required for the four winning designs out to tender across Europe.

However, only the four award-winning offices should be able to take part in this so-called VgV process.

According to Mayor Florian Hartmann, once the offers for the services of property planning, open-air facility planning, structural planning and technical building equipment are available, reliable figures on the costs of the project can be given for the first time.

Wolfgang Moll (We) congratulated the city and sports club on the new hall - if it can be financed as ever.

However, in this context, please don't forget about ice sports or even “play off” the two clubs ASV and ESV Dachau against each other.

As a reminder: The new Scherer hall will be significantly larger than the current hall - also due to drastically increased building regulations.

A parking garage is also planned to replace the current parking lot.

In order to accommodate these facilities in the limited area on Gröbenrieder Straße, the current artificial ice rink will have to be demolished.

However, it is currently questionable whether the city has money - in addition to the new ASV gymnasium - to build a replacement for the artificial ice rink elsewhere.

Kühnel and Moll: “Please don’t forget ice sports”

Kai Kühnel (Alliance for Dachau) also "cautiously", as he emphasized, joined his colleague Moll's appeal not to allow one club to displace the other.

Mayor Hartmann wanted to know from Kühnel why he only joined “cautiously”.

And immediately followed up with a possible answer: “Because we all don’t know how we’re going to pay for it anyway?”

Andreas Wilhelm, head of ASV Dachau, was also not reassured after the meeting on Tuesday.

Because even if the city is now starting the award process to realize the winning designs, there is still the possibility that instead of the chic new sports campus as the architects had drawn up, only a simple school gymnasium will be built due to a lack of money.

And that, Wilhelm told the Dachauer Nachrichten, “would mean for us that our competitive sports – namely handball and volleyball – can no longer take place.

We simply need spectator seats for this, and a school gymnasium doesn’t offer that!”

For this reason, according to Wilhelm, the association has offered the city to contribute up to 500,000 euros to building a new Georg Scherer Hall.

This money was intended to offset the additional costs that would arise from a spectator area or a grandstand.
