The anticipation for the Oktoberfest is already increasing!

The city of Munich has presented the new Oktoberfest poster.

This year we had a very special idea.

The snowdrops are just peeking into the February sun on the Isar - but the Oktoberfest atmosphere is already spreading in Munich's town hall: the new Oktoberfest motif has been decided!

This year, a happy Munich child laughs at the viewer, surrounded by the typical Wiesn symbols of a pretzel, a beer mug and a carousel, a rose, a trumpet and a big red heart.

The gag: The poster will probably be “interactive” for the first time: people are considering making billboards for the Oktoberfest with holes through which anyone can stick their head and hands and have their photo taken.

In this way, every Oktoberfest visitor could become a Munich child.

Annika Mittelmeier created the official Oktoberfest motif for 2024.

The 33-year-old graphic artist and designer is a Munich native herself.

According to economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner, who presented the poster on Friday, it quickly became clear that their design came in first place (worth 2,500 euros).

It radiates “unconditional joy of life” and will soon adorn licensed items and the official series beer mug.

The Oktoberfest motif competition has existed since 1952.

The jury consists of nine specialist judges from advertising and design and the economic advisor as well as six non-fiction judges from the city council.

The motif competition was announced on all muenchen.de channels and on oktoberfest.de.

120 designs were uploaded this year, 60 of which made it into the audience voting.

36,977 votes voted online to determine the most popular designs, from which the jury chose the winners.

Communication designer Sarah Schuhmann from Würzburg came in second place with her picture divided into rectangles, worth 1,250 euros, while Reinhold Singer from Augsburg came third (500 euros) with a Ferris wheel in front of deep blue.

Mittelmeier's winning design has already received a lot of sympathy on social media - not as much criticism as in previous years.

Oktoberfest city councilor Anja Berger (Green, Pink List) also says that her “anticipation for the Oktoberfest” has received “a big boost” with the motif.

It is not the first time that the Munich child has graced the Oktoberfest poster.

In 1957 it stretched its arms upwards, and in 2012 it also smiled at the viewer, but not so centrally.

This year, however, the focus is on his beaming face.

And Oktoberfest visitors could carry this radiance around the world with their own faces in photos.
