A cash-in-transit truck is robbed in front of a Berlin bank branch.
The perpetrators flee.
A little later a burning car is discovered - the getaway vehicle?
Berlin - According to police, an employee was injured in a robbery on a cash-in-transit truck in Berlin.
After the attack on Friday morning in front of a bank branch in Mariendorf, the perpetrators fled.
They escaped with the security guards' weapons and cash boxes containing cash, a police spokeswoman said.
She was initially unable to provide any information about the amount of the loot.
The car had pulled up to the bank branch on Mariendorfer Damm around 9 a.m. when the attack occurred, the police spokeswoman said.
According to “Bild” and “BZ”, four masked perpetrators were said to have been involved.
According to police, one of the security guards suffered a head injury and was treated as an outpatient at a hospital.
According to police, a burning car was discovered a short time later - just a few minutes from the crime scene - in a parking lot on Mohriner Allee in the Neukölln district.
The Firefighters put out the fire.
It was initially unclear whether there was a connection to the attack and whether it was possibly the getaway vehicle.
This is the subject of the investigation, said the police spokeswoman.
However, weapons were found in the car that could have come from the security guards who were attacked.
In the past there have been several robberies on cash-in-transit vehicles in Berlin.
In June 2022, four people were injured in a robbery on a cash-in-transit truck in front of a bank branch in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
About four months earlier, unknown people struck in front of a supermarket in the Neukölln district and stole money.
A robbery on a money transporter in front of a bank branch on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm in 2021 was spectacular: the perpetrators wore orange garbage collector clothing and stole almost 650,000 euros.
