Rai CEO Roberto Sergio said Friday that the decision not to allow the farmers involved in the tractor protests onto the stage of the Sanremo Song Festival was made together with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.
"The decision not to let the protests with tractors onto the Sanremo stage was a decision agreed on with Interior Minister Piantedosi," Sergio told ANSA.
Some of the protesting farmers have headed to Sanremo with their tractors and presenter Amadeus had said he would be ready to receive them.
But the network said Thursday that it would be "impossible" to have representatives of the farmers on stage.
Amadeus is expected to read a statement by the protesters during Friday's broadcast of the popular festival, which runs until Saturday.
