Snow and frost have taken a toll on Zechstrasse.
It will finally be renovated and expanded in the summer.

The expansion of Zechstrasse has been on the wish list of the Schäftlarn local council for a long time.
Now it should start in the summer.
Schäftlarn
– The road was already measured last year and planning was underway.
“Then the Protestant church community got in touch because the parking spaces and forecourt were to be redesigned here too,” reported Frank Buchberger from the building authority in the local council.
An initial draft plan was coordinated with the administration and the parish and the cost estimates were updated.
In total, the project will cost around 475,000 euros.
“And while we are already working on the road, the municipal utilities want to replace the water pipe as part of the expansion.”
said Buchberger.
The drainage, which is currently connected to the combined sewer, will in future be carried out via trenches (seepage).
This should all be renewed
The “new” Zechstraße should have a continuous width of five meters, the sidewalk will depend on the remaining width (between 1.35 meters and 2.19 meters).
“We want to start in the north at the current end of the expansion and end at the Lechnerstrasse intersection,” says Buchberger, explaining the approach.
The intersection area itself will also be renovated so that the Zechstrasse area does not have to be torn up again when the road is expanded later.
Two paved crossings are planned at the level of the Protestant church to aid crossing.
South of Gerhardt-Hauptmann-Weg, “in order to slow down traffic a little, the roadway should be narrowed a little”.
Buchberger assured that emergency services would not be hindered by this.
The church, in turn, should be granted permission to build over parking spaces, squares and green spaces, since the land in this area is very wide and not relevant for the expansion.
Frost has affected the road
Mayor Christian Fürst (CSU) welcomed the progress of the project given the condition of Zechstrasse.
“Due to the frost, the potholes have now become larger and larger.
Something has to be done.” Former mayor and local councilor Matthias Ruhdorfer (CSU) could even imagine a second narrowing to calm traffic, as the street is also used by many school children.
A proposal that the local councilors rejected, as did the first narrowing.
Pavement with slabs or stone paving
The committee agreed that the sidewalk should be paved with slabs or concrete paving.
Fürst: “If the path has to be torn up, it is easier to pave it again afterwards.” A suggestion that Jakob Metz did not entirely support.
“But they could also arise over time.
And then people who travel with walkers, wheelchairs or strollers have a real problem.” Nevertheless, proposals should now be developed for both variants.
