A business partnership that has outlasted the years of the construction site: TSV President Christoph Göbel (l.) and innkeeper Safet Gegaj are looking forward to the reopening of the clubhouse in mid-April.

Four years after its closure, TSV Gräfelfing is looking forward to the official opening of its clubhouse and new extension in mid-April.

It's about time.

The TSV managers, the departments, the community as donors – this construction site brought everyone to the edge of what was reasonable.

Gräfelfing –

“14.

4 p.m., 2 p.m.,” says TSV President Christoph Göbel like a shot when asked about the official opening date of the TSV clubhouse.

It has become a historic date for TSV Gräfelfing, after all the many data and numbers on the time and cost scale that quantified the setbacks.

“We went through everything there is with this construction site,” admits Christoph Göbel.

It would go beyond any scope to list all the problems.

But it started many years ago with a decision in the local council that later turned out to be unfortunate: the clubhouse was only supposed to be upgraded for about ten years because the club was already planning to move - to the ceiling of the planned motorway tunnel.

None of this happened, but as a result the TSV was stuck with a repair that turned into a general renovation - ultimately costing around 13.6 million euros.

A new building would have been hardly more expensive and would have been completed much quicker.

“The clubhouse from the carefree early 1980s, when community rolling up our sleeves was even more important than well-founded plans, fire protection or TÜV, is a Pandora's box that reveals new horrors layer by layer,” Merkur once wrote.

In fact, the building was dilapidated to a degree that no one could have imagined.

What followed was a core renovation that extended from the basement to the upper floor and only left out the roof cladding.

The additional costs in the areas of heating, ventilation and plumbing alone totaled 2.8 million euros.

The local council had to add 3.3 million euros in autumn 2023.

To make matters worse, the Corona pandemic also overlapped the construction site: In spring 2020, the TSV had to close due to Corona, and construction work only really started in the fall.

The TSV president has been visiting the construction site with a lighter heart for some time now.

With the last construction phase, the construction of the new building between the clubhouse and the gym, the bad surprises stopped;

The costs and schedule finally held.

The coin turns slowly and gradually reveals its other side - and it is shiny.

“It will be the most beautiful restaurant in the Würmtal,” says Safet Gegaj, beaming.

He and his family have been the TSV landlords for 20 years, and the relationship of trust between the club and the restaurateur is not only rare in the industry, but has just proven itself again.

“There was never a single moment of impatience, doubts or complaints from the Gegaj family during the entire construction period,” says Christoph Göbel.

“TSV Gräfelfing is extremely happy and grateful to have this loyal partner at their side.”

Except for a kitchen block and the floor tiles, the restaurant will be completely new, from the stainless steel equipment to the furniture, which has been waiting at the carpenter's for two years, to the bar. The room has a new, more flexible and open layout.

The terraces on both sides have been renovated and have retractable sun and rain protection including integrated lighting.

The unusable gallery became an apartment and an office.

There is now an elevator, a glass-enclosed waiting area for parents and a new adventure playground within sight of the large terrace.

The new building houses four changing rooms, office rooms, first aid and referee rooms.

All sanitary rooms on all levels have been newly designed.

The Würmtaler I shooting club can also look forward to new rooms in the basement.

The TSV president lists it as one of the departments that suffered the most from the long closure period.

“They have a heavy list and hardly any offspring left,” says Göbel sadly.

Table tennis, tennis and football also suffered.

Even though their sports activities were not interrupted and the club's total membership numbers increased to 3,500 people, Göbel knows: "Wounds have arisen." Social life, with the closed clubhouse as the pivotal point, lay fallow for too long to remain undamaged.

But anyone who knows Christoph Göbel knows that despite all his realism, he is one thing above all: an inspiring optimist.

And so he says: “We'll be back at exactly the right time.” With the Lochhamer Einkehr, the Pschorrhof, the Bürgerhaus and the D'Ivino, gastronomic and social meeting places in Gräfelfing have been canceled, and the TSV is willing and ready to be here to jump the breach.

Christoph Göbel: “I am firmly convinced that we will recover very quickly after commissioning, including new influxes in the catering industry and social life.” The official opening on April 14th, 2 p.m., should be the starting signal, with a blessing, a few speeches and a tour - not of a problem construction site, but of a shiny new clubhouse with optimal conditions for all athletes and guests.
