Foretaste of the carnival procession: The Tegernsee Bräustüberl was already busy on Thursday with the legendary women's carnival.
As always, the costumed people came in droves.

Let's go to the hearty carnival finale!
The highlight is the carnival procession in Tegernsee this Sunday (February 11th).
You can find everything important about the Gaudiwurm here.
Tegernsee
- There should be no shortage of funny motifs: local and national celebrities are made fun of, political and social issues are discussed and fun is made of small and large events.
The carnival procession in Tegernsee this Sunday, February 11th, will be the highlight of this year's foolish season at Tegernsee.
In any case, the organizational team around Fred Gragert and Andreas Gerold worked really hard to get everything done on time.
The route had to be redefined, permits obtained and all requirements discussed with the participants.
Among other things, every motorized vehicle needs a TÜV stamp.
Two carnival parades in a row: fewer registrations in Tegernsee
Andreas Gerold explains the fact that only 22 Maschkera groups have registered so far this year and therefore fewer participants than in previous carnival parades: “A carnival parade was already organized in Kreuth last year.
Another carnival procession a year later might be a bit too much for some people.” Nevertheless, after the Corona break and the postponed rhythm, they decided to go ahead with the fun this year.
“Otherwise we would have collided with the legendary carnival procession in Reichersbeuern, which is on the calendar for 2025,” Gerold makes clear.
And as a reminder: carnival parades only take place on Tegernsee every two years, and then always alternating with Gmund and Kreuth.
So Tegernsee won't be back for another six years.
Visitors can look forward to highly original cars
Participants can look forward to a fun event with 22 Mashkera groups, including eight highly original designed wagons and vehicles and funny masked walking groups.
The Gmunder Seegeister with their huge truck are of course also there and, with their prince couples, the Elferrat and many members, wave down on the foolish people from above, accompanied by music and dressed according to this year's motto “Circus”.
Speaking of music: The Gaudiwurm also includes three marching bands from Kreuth, Gmund and Holzkirchen.
They set the pace and accompany the participants.
Floats and groups line up on Max-Josef-Straße at 12 p.m
The cars and groups will be lined up from 12 p.m. on Max-Josef-Straße.
Beer mat pendants worth two euros are sold as entry tickets.
The Gaudiwurm starts moving at 1 p.m., it moves across Bahnhofstrasse, then turns onto the main street in the direction of the town hall.
There it turns around, forms a counter-move and winds back along Bahnhofstrasse.
Andreas Gerold explains that the procession will disperse at the Edeka parking lot.
For everyone who then really wants to celebrate, the big “Firing Dwarf Party” with bar service, sausages and Leberkäs takes place in and around the interim hall of the Tegernsee fire department on Hochfeldstrasse.
The city provides two special ships for the journey
The city of Tegernsee is sponsoring the use of two special ships.
Beer mat tokens worth five euros are sold on the ships, which includes the price of the boat trip there and back as well as the entry ticket to the carnival procession.
Departure: at 12 p.m. from Rottach-Egern-Strandbad via Rottach-Egern-Überfahrt to Tegernsee-Rathaus and from Bad Wiessee-Town Center via Abwinkl to Tegernsee-Rathaus.
Additional trips are available as needed.
The last return trip is at 4 p.m. from Tegernsee town hall.

The police are closing federal highway 307 to traffic in the Tegernsee thoroughfare from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Traffic from Gmund is routed via Bad Wiessee, and from the direction of Kreuth it only goes via Bad Wiessee.
“We won’t let the cars roll again until the sweeper is through,” says a police spokesman, pointing out that escape routes must be kept clear.
If possible, we ask you not to park on the side of the road, but to use RVO buses or the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB).
The BRB runs as scheduled and at twice the length.
