A whole table of weapons and ammo.
On February 1, the gendarmes seized a large arsenal from an individual living as a recluse in a premises in Carros, near Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).
Pistols, rifles, sabers, katanas, knives, tasers and thousands of ammunition, including arrows, were recovered.
The prefect praised
the “effective action”
of the Nice gendarmerie, with the arrest of this individual in his fifties,
“without violence despite the very numerous weapons”
.
The man was the subject of rental eviction proceedings after transforming commercial premises into a home.
When checking the files before the intervention, the authorities noticed that he was in possession of different firearms, but acquired completely legally because he had declared them.

Individual who “let himself perish”
As a precaution in the context of this operation, and while the gendarmes had initially tried to contact him, in vain, the prefect Hugues Moutouh had issued an order to seize at the same time the various weapons and ammunition that they were going to find.
On site, officers from the surveillance and intervention platoon (Psig) discovered an individual with a disturbing profile to say the least.
The fifty-year-old
“let himself die”,
according to our information.
He lived in total darkness, without windows or electricity, but among his weapons, the regional daily Nice-Matin
reported
.
The man was lying down, weakened because he was no longer eating, and was then taken to hospital.
