For years, women have wanted and asked for equality.
They knew that to achieve this they needed to enter the world of politics.
At the end of 1991, Law 24,012 on the “female quota” was passed.
It was the first Law in the world to establish
a minimum of 30% of women on the lists
to access seats in the National Congress.
It was achieved thanks to the creation of a multi-party group, just like the 2018 parity law, which proposes
placing women and men alternately
on the lists.
It was only fair: women make up half of the country's population.
Furthermore, thanks to them,
international treaties on human rights and women's rights have been incorporated.
And laws were passed that would not have existed without them, such as abortion, humanized childbirth, comprehensive sexual education, Micaela, Equal Marriage.
Parity must be defended, although there are days when it becomes difficult because there are women who seem like bishops of the patriarchy by demonstrating zero empathy with their own gender.
Like Vice President
Victoria Villarruel, who denies the ravages of the military dictatorship,
especially on the women who have been kidnapped, raped, tortured, murdered, stripped of their children.
Or Chancellor
Diana Mondino, who is an economist and denies the gender wage gap
, an issue that earned Claudia Goldín the last Nobel Prize in economics.
Or the Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich, who maintains that femicides are an issue of insecurity.
Or the super minister of Human Capital Sandra Pettovello, who has not yet said anything about the gender issue, an area that she was left in charge of after the dismantling of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity.
Or Rocío Bonacci,
the 27-year-old young woman who is now a libertarian deputy
and presented a project to prohibit abortion.
Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy
has been law since December 30, 2020 after the longest debate in history
.
Not only was it voted for by legislators from all parties but it had a broad consensus in society.
Bonacci's project is more archaic than the Civil Code of 1921:
it does not even accept the cause of rape.
In Argentina there are issues that are settled, even though they say that "the forces of heaven" want to reinstate them, such as the dictatorship or abortion.
Society has already said no to clandestinity.
