The Italian electricity network manager Terna is reportedly studying an offer to acquire high voltage assets up to a maximum value of 1.5 billion euros.
This was reported by the Bloomberg agency, according to which the company has carried out preliminary studies to purchase more than 500 kilometers of high voltage electricity lines and approximately 2,200 electrical substations, mostly owned by Enel e-distribuzione and Areti of the Acea multiutility.
Terna explains that "at present no negotiations have been started for any transfers or acquisitions of assets".
The company recalls, however, that an Arera resolution, 423 of 2023, "incentivizes distributors to sell some assets, currently formally considered part of the electricity distribution network but which, from a technical point of view, are more functional to the high voltage transmission system. This resolution , therefore, aims to rationalize the high voltage electricity network, while not involving the primary substations as a whole".
