Luis Urzúa, Mario Sepúlveda, Juan Carlos Aguilar, Esteban Rojas and Rivhard Villarroel arrived at the headquarters of the National Congress in Santiago, who were rescued in 2010 in the San José mine.
They were next to Piñera's coffin as he lay in solemn state before a state funeral.
Speaking to the media, they recalled the late president's leadership in securing his rescue.
“He always complied with us (...) and the important thing is that this rescue milestone is respected as a legacy for the entire country,” added miner Luis Urzúa, who helped coordinate the rescue, which went around the world. , ending 69 days later with the 33 workers safe and sound.
The feat was one of the highlights of Piñera's first administration.
Richard Villarroel, miner number 28 to leave the mine, also expressed his condolences to the family.
“We came more than anything to thank the Piñera family for the opportunity in life they gave us.
For my part, meeting my son, who is now thirteen years old, who was born on that same date,” he said excitedly.
He also confirmed that other of the rescued miners will arrive during the day to deliver their condolences to the family of former president Sebastián Piñera.
