The IDF claims that the nerve center of the terrorist organization Hamas was hidden under the UNRA headquarters in the luxury Rimal neighborhood in Gaza.
According to sources in the army, Hamas made sure to integrate its people into the ranks of the aid organization in order to maintain and operate its underground system.
Among other things, documents and information of great intelligence value were kept at the disclosed headquarters.
According to estimates, the army is now preparing for activity in Rafah considering the presence of the density of the Palestinian population in the area - to which residents of the north and center of the Strip have been evacuated.

About two weeks ago, the New York Times published details that Israeli officials passed on to the United States regarding the accusations against UNRWA employees who allegedly participated in the October 7 massacre. According to the details, one of the employees is accused of kidnapping a woman. A second employee is accused of distributing ammunition, and a third employee was described As someone who actually took part in the massacre at the kibbutz in which 97 people were murdered.
The accusations are included in the case transferred to the United States government against about a dozen UNRWA employees.
A day earlier, UNRWA said that two of the workers had died, and that it could not provide more information while an investigation by the UN's internal oversight body was underway.

At the same time, a few days before the publication in The Times, UNRWA's Commissioner General, Philippa Lazzarini, announced that Israel had given him information that some of the agency's employees in Gaza were involved in the terrorist attack of October 7. Lazzarini announced in response that he had immediately canceled the employment contracts of these employees and ordered an investigation to be opened. Following the announcement, several countries including the United States, Great Britain and Germany announced that they would stop funding the organization until further notice. Most of the budget of the UNRA agency, which relies on donations, unlike other UN agencies, came from those countries that have just announced the delivery of their contribution.
