Stars and witches, gummy bears in the Xtreme mix and pop cult: there was a great atmosphere at the women's carnival in Peiting in the “Café Central” and in the “Bergwerk”.

Schongau's follies Simone I and Tobias I and their court didn't miss this either.

Peiting – Bergwerkstrasse, Peiting, shortly before midnight: An altar boy braves the light rain and is on his way home.

Already?

“Yes, we were in Reutte at lunchtime today, then we celebrated here, and at some point it has to be good,” he says.

Maybe the “Gummy Bear Gang in the Xtreme Mix” that the DJ just played is just not his thing.

The dance floor inside is packed, the beat is massive, the bass can be felt in every cell of the body.

Shortly beforehand, the Prinzengarde of the Schongau Carnival Society made the “mine” go wild with their artistic and bright show dance.

Their follies Princess Simone I. and Prince Tobias I. with their young court are clearly enjoying the atmosphere, the guard girls are happy to put on a second encore.

Whether for the “boys” on two levels in the “Mine” or for the more mixed-age partygoers in the “Café Central”: costume trends this year are puffy tulle skirts with integrated fairy lights, forest spirits or devils, stars, flowers of all kinds or Aperol - Spritz with matching t-shirt and straw.

In the “Central”, women predominate among the guests, as it is also a women’s carnival, although men are expressly welcome, as the invitation says.

The two friendly “security guards” Ufug and Manuel at the “Central” entrance estimate that around 200 people followed.

Inside, the party is just reaching one of its highlights: the costume award ceremony.

“Witch Gisela” wins ahead of “Ronald McDonald” and the garden spider.

The dance floor is full there too, and the audience sings along to the chorus of “Layla”.

“DJ Charly’s” specialty is usually oldies.

He has been DJing at “Central” every carnival for 30 years.

“You have to bring something a little bit modern,” he says.

He particularly likes the “mixed audience” and spends the night at the mixing desk “because it's just fun”.
