In 2023, news of his death shocked fans of fitness influencer “Joesthetics.”

Now his family announced a surprise, but it didn't go down well at all.

Munich - Fitness influencer Johannes Lindner - better known as Joesthetics - was only 30 years old.

The fitness influencer from Upper Palatinate died in Thailand last year.

His family has now set up an Instagram account to keep his memory alive.

A project idea was shared there in mid-January, which may seem a bit unusual to many.

“Joesthetic” died in 2023 at just 30 years old: family announces perfume that will smell like him

A book is initially announced with a photo of Lindner that appears to have been taken on his 30th birthday.

This should be written by a close relative.

Then comes the more unusual part of the post: There will be a perfume that is supposed to smell like the young man.

Fitness influencer “Joestethics”: Family releases fragrance - “Smelled exceptionally good”

The perfume will be a project by Lindner's father to honor his son and preserve his memory.

"If you knew Jo, you know - he always smelled exceptionally good," reads the post, signed by the influencer's father, mother and sister.

The young man also combined different scents all the time.

“You have to know that it wasn’t just a hobby,” the Instagram post continues.

Even as a teenager, Lindner always used his father's perfumes to smell just like him.

“Little Jo was certainly the best-smelling student back then.” Since then, he and his father have talked about perfumes, preferences and components and given each other tips.

“Jo's clothes, backpacks - literally everything we have from him smells like him,” the family writes.

Smells are linked to emotions.

“Every time we go through his things, we smell him and feel close to him.

We want to share this experience with you so you can feel connected to him too!”

“Scent that smells just like Jo”: Fans of “Joesthetics” reacted angrily to the family’s plan

“In cooperation with a small perfume manufacturer, we are now working on a fragrance that smells exactly like Jo,” says the announcement on the account.

If you want to be notified directly when the perfume is available, you can join a waiting list.

“What you are doing is not right.

Shame on you,” one follower said angrily in the comments.

“It feels like the family/someone wants to make money from his death.

“Hopefully I’m wrong,” you can also read.

But the family assures that they do not want to benefit personally from it.

“We don't do this for money.” Instead, part of the proceeds should be donated, and athletes who weren't as lucky as others should also be supported.

“To smell like Jo, all you have to do is buy your favorite perfume,” said another person, speaking out against the family’s plan.

“This is disgusting, let him rest in peace.

Don’t use his name to make money,” said another voice.

There are hardly any positive words to be said about the family's plans.
