The Benz Baracklerin Selina from “Hartz und Herzen” comes of age!
To celebrate the day, her family gives her a very special and expensive gift.
The Benz barracks in Mannheim are the setting for many stories that life writes.
Some of these stories are recorded on camera in the RTLZWEI program “Hartz and warmly”.
The protagonists Petra and her two children Selina and Pascal are among the absolute audience favorites.
In the last episode, the three celebrated Selina's 18th birthday together.

“Hartz and warm” Selina comes of age – Petra and Pascal are preparing a surprise
Like many other residents of the Benz barracks, Petra and her family struggle with financial worries and unemployment.
Pascal was recently fired from his job, which is why the whole family now has to live on citizen's money again.
Nevertheless, Selina's 18th birthday should be something special.
Petra and her son bake two fruit cakes the day before.
The man from Mannheim has already thought carefully about how the day will be as nice as possible for her daughter: “First of all, cake for breakfast, then at lunchtime there will be more cake […] and tomorrow we will also make her favorite meal.” Selina also gets it quite an expensive gift...
Petra remains Selina’s guardian – “she wouldn’t be able to cope with a stranger at all”
Although Selina reaches adulthood on her 18th birthday, her mother Petra remains her guardian due to her mental disability.
Because she is sure that Selina would not be able to cope with a “foreign” carer: “She also doesn’t get involved in conversations with strangers […] that’s why she asked me and I said, ‘Yes, I’ll do it’.”
On the day of her 18th birthday, Selina is surprised with the two cakes by her mother and brother.
They also bring lots of gifts that “Hartz und cordial” fans sent for their birthday.
But the biggest surprise is still waiting for you!
“Because you kept saying 'ah, I want to play too', we thought about buying you a Playstation,” announces Pascal.

“Hartz and warm” in Mannheim – Selina gets PlayStation for her birthday
However, this hasn't arrived yet, so Selina will have to wait a few more days.
“Okay, but I can wait, as long as I have you,” says the birthday child happily.
Other residents of the Benz barracks also have great reason to be happy at the moment: “Hartz and warm” Christine has finally found a new apartment after having to live in a home with mold for years.
