Simone Schönweiß from Lauf an der Pegnitz is a true powerhouse.

In the interview, the 35-year-old talks about more than just rice, broccoli and chicken.

Run on the Pegnitz – Simone Schönweiß doesn't forget her home in Franconia when she stands on big stages in Las Vegas and shows off her muscles in a bikini.

The native of Middle Franconia is a bodybuilder and has recently become a two-time world champion.

She secured first place at the “Miss Universe” competition at the beginning of January.

The special thing: Between her first title and the current one, Schönweiß had a child.

In an interview with our editorial team, she tells us what the preparation was like with her child, how she manages all her appointments and why her rice with broccoli and chicken still tastes good.

Bodybuilder for 20 years: son changes a lot

“I trained until the day before the birth,” remembers Simone Schönweiß of the birth of her son Finn, “then I was in the hospital for two days and went straight back to the dumbbells.” Her body acknowledged this with a night of chills .

“Then I realized that it was too much.” This shows how much Simone Schönweiß invests in bodybuilding.

The 35-year-old has been doing strength training for 20 years, which was different back then than it is today.

A lot changed with the birth of her son.

At 1.83 meters, Fränkin still has 3 percent body fat at the time of the competition

“I used to train every day, often twice a day,” says Schönweiß, “I don’t do that anymore, it’s not effective either.” Today she goes to the gym a maximum of five times a week.

Regeneration is important; the body can only build muscle during rest phases.

She also adjusted her preparation for the competitions in consultation with her coach and husband.

It was only three months, instead of the usual six, before the big appearance at the “Miss Universe” competition that she entered the hot phase.

With a strict diet and a training plan, the 1.83 meter tall woman weighed just under 75 kilograms and had a body fat percentage of 3 percent on the deadline.

For comparison: for an average woman it is between 22 and 30 percent.

She “hasn’t had her fill of rice with broccoli and chicken yet”

During the non-competition period, her body fat increases again to 13 percent.

This is also important, as Schönweiß emphasizes: “Otherwise the estrogen level in the body drops too much, which has a negative effect on the entire hormonal balance.” In normal times, she eats normally, just making sure she gets enough protein.

Regarding the typical bodybuilder dish of rice with broccoli and chicken, she says: “Fortunately, I haven’t eaten enough of that yet; I just haven’t been able to eat protein pancakes for a while.” Actually, she and her husband are also “pleasure people”.

If the training schedule allows it, the two of them treat themselves to mulled wine or popcorn at the cinema.

Son Finn also played a role in the changed preparation time.

With the two-year-old child, Simone Schönweiß had to plan and coordinate everything differently.

He brought illnesses home from daycare and infected his mother, which also affected her in training.

At the same time, Simone Schönweiß works as a nurse near Nuremberg because you can't make any money with bodybuilding.

When asked how she manages to reconcile everything, she laughs: “It requires careful consultation, we always have all of our calendars ready.” She also has family members who support her wherever they can.

Bodybuilder doesn't let negative comments influence her: "My ideal of beauty"

The 35-year-old presents herself on her Instagram channel and shows insights into her training.

Hate comments and nasty messages are the order of the day: “I stand over it and delete the messages or block the users.” For her, only one thing counts: “I really do this out of passion.

That’s my thing, my ideal of beauty.”

Simone Schönweiß is pleased that the fitness industry has experienced a boom in recent years: “It’s an incredible trend and good for this sport.” Bodybuilding is perfect for people of all ages.

But for now there is a longer break for them.

She's looking forward to going out to eat again, going on vacation, spending time with friends and family without always having to take her training plan into account.
