On February 16th, singer Marie Reim will compete in the ESC preliminary round with her hit “Naiv” – this upsets “Eurovision Song Contest” icon Ralph Siegel.

He can't get anything out of the song.

Munich – Marie Reim (23) wants to take part in the “Eurovision Song Contest” this year and follow in the footsteps of her mother Michelle (51) – that would make her biggest dream come true.

A dream that not everyone grants her: ESC icon Ralph Siegel (78) now speaks about the young pop singer and especially doesn't say a good word about her song “Naiv”.

No winning qualities: Ralph Siegel criticizes Marie Reims' ESC hit

In the preliminary round, the daughter of the former hit couple Michelle and Matthias Reim (66) has to prevail against several competitors.

Fans are celebrating Marie Reim's "Eurovision Song Contest" song online, but there is also a very well-known critic who doesn't think much of the hit.

The music producer Ralph Siegel has a special connection to the ESC.

With the band Genghis Khan he achieved fourth place in the renowned music competition in 1979 and with his produced song “A Little Peace”, which was sung by pop icon Nicole, he even won victory for Germany in 1982.

So you could say that the composer has an eye for winning "Eurovision Song Contest" hits - but he doesn't see any winning qualities in Marie Reim's song "Naiv".

These are the candidates for the ESC preliminary round

Bodine Monet – “Tears Like Rain”

Galant – “Katze”

Max Mutzke – “Forever Strong”

NinetyNine – “Love On A Budget”

Ryk – “Oh Boy

Florian Rößler - “Scars”

Despite criticism of Marie Reim: Ralph Siegel is a loyal “Eurovision Song Contest” fan

“The song is very old-fashioned.

And an original clearly resonates with it.

The young pop artist is still doing everything she can to emerge as the winner of the ESC preliminary round and to be able to represent Germany at this year's European competition in Malmö.

For the ESC preliminary round, Marie Reim even had mom Michelle's old dress sewn around so that she could perform in Berlin on February 16th.
