The driver had asked at the mountain station for the shortest route to Unken - and ignored the advice.
Instead, he drove over the cross-country ski trail.
Reit im Winkl - A man drove three kilometers in his car along a freshly prepared cross-country ski trail in Upper Bavaria.
He also drove on winter hiking and forest paths in a landscape protection area, on his route from the Winkelmoosalm in Reit im Winkl (Traunstein district) to Unken in Austria, as the police announced on Thursday.
The man asked at the mountain station of a gondola lift on Monday, February 5th, about the shortest route to Unken and ignored the instructions to use the official route.

Driver drives over prepared trail - investigations are ongoing
In the region, cars end up on a cross-country ski trail about two to three times per season, according to a police spokesman in Grassau.
This usually happens because the navigation system misdirects drivers.
As a rule, the cars get stuck in the snow, which results in complex rescue operations.
However, in this particular case, the slopes were firm enough and partially cleared so that the man did not get stuck.
Investigations are now underway against the driver.
