Against hatred and agitation, for tolerance and humanity: three major events are taking place in the Miesbach district, which are supported by broad social alliances.

District

- It is the concern for democracy and diversity in society that causes smaller groups to become larger and larger.

In Holzkirchen, in Miesbach and apparently also in the Tegernsee Valley, alliances are forming that want to stand up for tolerance and humanity and against xenophobia and racism.

After similar demos took place around the district (we reported), the first dates are now also available here.

Wooden churches

The plans have progressed furthest in the north of the district: The “Holzkirchen ist bunt” alliance is inviting people to a two-hour rally with music on the market square on Sunday, February 25th, from 3 p.m.

There are three concerns in the title of the event: “Diversity, tolerance and humanity,” as Ulrike Lorentz explains.

The Protestant pastor is one of over 30 people and institutions who have been involved in the planning since the end of January.

Medical ethicist and journalist Andreas Wolkenstein has registered for the rally with 200 people.

“We are now assuming there are around 1,000,” estimates Lorentz.

Everyone who feels addressed is welcome.

The focus is deliberately not on parties, but rather on citizens who stand up for basic values in democracy.

“It’s not enough to be against it,” says Lorentz.

That's why the rally was deliberately not named as a demonstration against right-wing extremism - although it is of course directed against racism, anti-Semitism, but also against inhumane left-wing extremism, emphasizes the pastor.

This should result in a permanent merger.

The campaign is receiving support from prominent sources: In addition to Mayor Christoph Schmid, who has announced a statement, the Well brothers, the cabaret artist Christian Springer and regional bands such as the Bieramiden and Mountain Lake Vista have reported.

The latter has the feeling that society is becoming brutalized, says band member Vinzenz Semmler.

They want to set an example with a positive mood.

Miesbach

First the large demonstration in Munich, then also actions in the neighboring districts: Such a sign against extremism should also be possible in Miesbach, believes Anton Weidelener, chairman of the Eigeninitiativ association responsible for the cultural center of the golden park bench.

Together with several fellow campaigners, he registered the “Miesbach against Fascism” event with the district office for Saturday, March 2nd.

Speeches are planned at the market square from 4 p.m., then the participants will walk along Rathausstrasse and Frühlingsstrasse up to the town square to the finish in Waitzinger Park.

Here the demonstration ends with music, for example with the band Bieramiden.

Weidelener is particularly pleased that numerous clubs and groups in Miesbach have already announced their participation, including the ADFC and the Protestant church community.

“And hopefully this is just the beginning,” says the 20-year-old from Miesbach, who also sits in the new youth parliament in his hometown.

The final number of participants is still open.

Weidelener reports that 300 people were registered.

If in the end - as in many other places - there are significantly more, that will not be a problem, on the contrary: the necessary folders can easily be found spontaneously.

Tegernsee Valley

As can be heard from several organizations, something is also happening in the Tegernsee Valley.

The Holzkirchner Alliance confirms: “Cooperation with local alliances is in progress across the district, which will result in further events, for example in the Tegernsee Valley.” But apparently nothing is ready to be decided there yet.
