By the end of March at the latest, it should be possible to use car sharing in so-called free-floating in Germering.

Germering - This means that vehicles can be rented and parked regardless of the station - but in specified areas.

“This makes the offer significantly more attractive because wider user groups can be reached,” explained mobility officer Sven Gröting at the most recent meeting of the Environment and Urban Development Committee.

With Miles Mobility's offer, you can also travel flexibly to Munich.

The company wants to complete the test phase with a maximum of twelve vehicles.

Other car sharing offers already exist in the city of Germering.

However, the vehicles are assigned to a fixed location there.

In principle, the committee members saw the new car sharing offer as a good additional alternative.

For Third Mayor Sophie Schuhmacher (Greens), it is also a good addition to mobility stations.

Improvements

However, several committee members warned that there was a need for improvement.

“The areas that are planned already have parking pressure,” said Katrin Schmidt (CSU).

She spoke out in favor of including the southern urban area.

For Daniel Liebetruth (SPD), it would have made more sense to set locations close to the two S-Bahn stations.

“Closer to the center,” he summarized his suggestion.

Gröting explained in this context that the areas were determined in consultation between the city and the provider.

There are also no contracts.

The company Miles Mobility, which is already represented in the neighboring Würmtal district, approached the city on its own initiative.

Therefore no decision was necessary.

The provider's request was only submitted to the committee for information.

These are the areas

Area 1:

GEP, Aubinger Weg, Leipziger Straße, Breslauer Straße, Danziger Straße, Berliner Straße, Sudetenstraße.

Area 2

(among others): Schillerstrasse, Dornierstrasse, Krippfeldstrasse, Steinbergstrasse, Obere Bahnhofstrasse, Ganghoferstrasse.

According to the proposal , a third area

around Kerschensteinerstrasse will still be defined at the meeting.
