The anti-AfD demo in Erding was right and important.
The bourgeois majority should not make one mistake, comments editorial director Hans Moritz.
Up to 2,500 people in Erding rejected right-wing activities and attacks on democracy.
The “Colorful instead of Brown” rally was impressive, but could also have used a larger audience.
The demo hadn't even started when AfD leader Wolfgang Kellermann came around the corner with the expected howl: The number of participants was definitely overestimated.
It is precisely this assumption that shows the right's nervousness: the demos have caused them to fall significantly in the polls, they are feeling headwind and have to realize that the middle class majority doesn't want to have anything to do with them.
But the Democrats have to be careful not to leave the bourgeois ground.
The sentence: “We hate the AfD” is a mistake.
It's enough to hate their politics with their despicable deportation and forced camp fantasies from Potsdam and Saxony.
Hate should never be directed at people.
The demonstrations won't go on forever.
This makes it all the more important to show the AfD the red card at every opportunity.
It must never become the new normal.
And, yes, it makes sense to start collecting material for a ban on the AfD.
Whether it is appropriate and necessary is another matter.
