Change of tenant at Kennedy in Erding: David Ritter is quitting after ten years.
The Wanderer innkeepers take over the café bar as a second restaurant.
Erding – It was a retreat in installments, now the Kennedy Bar on Landshuter Straße in the heart of Erding is completely closed.
Tenant David Ritter closed it after ten years - and is immediately presenting his successors: The landlords of the Wanderer restaurant in Klettham are taking over the café-bar in a prime location and will be running it as a second restaurant from spring.
The new tenants are the married couple Chris and Conny Weil as well as Philipp and Sandra Scheurich.
While the men will continue to primarily look after the hiker, the women will devote themselves to the Kennedy, which will operate under a new name in the future.
In addition to a daytime café, you want to offer bar food and cocktails in the evenings, announces Sandra Scheurich.
The 34-year-old is a trained chef and met her future husband, also a chef, while working at the Best Western Hotel in Erding.
Conny Weil (32) also has gastronomic roots.
“We feel well prepared,” emphasizes Sandra Scheurich in an interview with our newspaper.
The search for employees is already underway: “Anyone who is interested is welcome to get in touch.” Before reopening, the restaurant will be redesigned a little.
The couple opened the Wanderer restaurant in June 2022 and quickly made a name for themselves with their fine cuisine.
The restaurant is only open in the evenings except Sundays.
This leaves time during the day to take care of the café bar.
“We have changed the city center in the long term with the Kennedy,” says David Ritter, not without pride.
The 38-year-old and his team had turned the space that previously housed a 1-euro store into a popular meeting place.
Not only did the guests enjoy the diverse breakfast variations, the restaurant, which has an open space in front of the Beautiful Tower under the old chestnut tree, was also well attended in the afternoon and evening.
In the last few months, however, the air was gone.
The Kennedy was open less and less often.
“The main problem was the large construction site that lasted for months on Landshuter Strasse up to the Schöner Turm,” says Ritter looking back.
In addition, he could no longer take care of the restaurant as he had in the early days; he didn't have the time.
Another reason for the change: Ritter and his partner are expecting their first offspring in early summer.
The focus of the gastronomy jack-of-all-trades is now on Dorfen, where, as managing director of the Tonwerk, he runs a club, restaurant and bar on the former Meindl site on the outskirts of the city.
And there are further expansion plans.
Ritter, who sits on the city council in his hometown for the Erding Now group, emphasizes that the Weekend Club at the Volksfestplatz is still open as normal.
However, he is aware that “the nightclub business has changed”.
There is generally less going on, young people apparently don't like to party anymore: "In Bavaria, every club is making losses." The advantage in Dorfen: "Everything there fuels each other with restaurants, bars and clubs." And: That's where Ritter wants to be specialize in corporate events.
There is great interest in the district.
