A California judge confirmed this Friday the death sentence for José Vladimir Larín García for the murder of four people in the city of Palm Springs in February 2019.
Larín García, 24, was convicted of the murders of Carlos Campos Rivera, 25, Yuliana García (17), Jacob Montgomery (19) and Juan Duarte Raya (18).
In February 2023, a jury had recommended the death penalty for Larín García and today Judge Anthony Villalobos ratified that sentence.
On the night of the events, the convicted man was traveling in a car with three of the victims when he encountered Campos Rivera and shot him in the head, the accusation details.
A witness stated during the trial that he heard multiple gunshots from inside the vehicle, where the other three victims were later found shot in the head.
“The death penalty is reserved for those who have truly demonstrated that
they have no remorse
for actions that are among the most heinous imaginable,” District Attorney Mike Hestrin said today.
