After the
heat wave
that hit the City and the Buenos Aires suburbs for eight consecutive days, the weekend before the Carnival holiday started with a much more pleasant temperature, although rain is expected during the afternoon.
The National Meteorological Service predicted probable showers in the afternoon for the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, with
a minimum of 24 degrees and a maximum of 28.
The agency today issued a
yellow level alert
for rain for part of the Buenos Aires suburbs, while the eastern and coastal area of the province of Buenos Aires is under an
orange warning.
Due to the yellow alert for rain that the agency warned for
the capital of that province, La Plata, and the first cordon of Buenos Aires
, it was reported that in that area "there will be rains of varying intensity, without ruling out some strong periods, with predicted precipitation values accumulated between 20 and 50 millimeters, which could be overcome locally.
Some of the towns that are affected by this alert are the east of Castelli, Chascomús, Dolores, Lezama, Magdalena, Punta Indio, Tordillo, Brandsen, Cañuelas and San Vicente.
The orange warning, meanwhile, applies to the western Buenos Aires towns of Castelli, Chascomús, Dolores, General Lavalle, Lezama, Punta Indio, Tordillo, Pila, Ayacucho, Balcarce, General Guido, Maipú, northwest of General Juan Madariaga and de Mar Chiquita, west and coast of General Pueyrredón and General Alvarado.
For tomorrow, Sunday, the agency predicts for the AMBA a day with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies, winds from the northern sector rotating to the northeast, and a temperature that will be between
25 degrees minimum and 31 maximum.
Meanwhile, on Monday - the Carnival holiday - cloudy skies are forecast,
isolated storms in the morning

Seven other provinces under yellow alert for storms
The SMN also issued yellow alerts for storms for this Saturday in the provinces of Río Negro, San Luis, Mendoza, Tucumán, Catamarca, Salta and Jujuy.
In San Luis it will affect the west in localities such as the low areas of Belgrano, Juan Martín de Pueyrredón and Gobernador Dupuy where it was warned that the storms will be isolated, some locally strong with occasional hail, strong electrical activity and strong gusts.
"Accumulated precipitation values between 20 and 40 millimeters are expected, and may be exceeded from time to time," the agency stated.
Storms are also expected in the
southeast of Mendoza
(the east of Las Heras, La Paz, Lavalle, San Martín, Santa Rosa) and in the
Catamarca valleys
of Santa María and Tafí del Valle, and the mountainous area of Chicligasta, Juan B. Alberdi , Lules, Monteros, Río Chico, Tafí Viejo, Andalgalá and Santa María.
This yellow alert for storms is repeated in the center and north of the province of
Salta
in the Capital, Cerrillos, Guachipas, La Viña, low areas of Chicoana, La Caldera, Rosario de Lerma and Cafayate and in General José de San Martín, yungas of Iruya, Orán and Santa Victoria.
The storms will also be present in the
southeast of Jujuy

The heat wave does not stop on the Coast
The provinces of Formosa, Corrientes, eastern Salta, northern and southern Chaco, northeastern Santa Fe, eastern Entre Ríos and southern Misiones are under red alert due to extreme heat, while northern Misiones shares that same warning along with the yellow and orange level, the SMN reported today.
The red level alert implies "very dangerous" temperatures that "can affect all people, even healthy ones."
This warning extends to the provinces of Corrientes, Formosa, the Salta town of Rivadavia;
northwest of Chaco in Almirante Brown and General Güemes and to the south in Bermejo, General Donovan, Libertad, Primero de Mayo and San Fernando.
The meteorological organization also foresees the same alert for the northeast of Santa Fe in General Obligado, San Javier and Vera;
west of Entre Ríos in towns such as Concordia, Federación, Federal, Feliciano, San Salvador, Colón, Gualeguaychú, Ibicuy Islands, Tala and Uruguay.
The Misiones towns in the south and center of that province are included in this warning for high temperatures, with the exception of the north where the orange alert for extreme heat applies in towns such as the north of Guaraní, San Pedro, and high areas of General Manuel Belgrano. and Monte Carlo.
The warning for high temperatures in the orange level reports a "moderate to high health effect" and warns that "they can be very dangerous, especially for risk groups."
Meanwhile, the yellow alert for high temperatures that have a "mild to moderate effect on health" can be dangerous, especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65 years of age, with chronic diseases.
This last warning is planned for the missionary towns of El Dorado, Iguazú and the low areas of Juan Manuel Belgrano and Montecarlo.
