Parents in Bernbeuren will soon have to pay more money for the care of their children: the fees at the St. Nikolaus kindergarten will be increased in two steps.

The carrier wants to offset increased operating costs.

Bernbeuren - It is an issue that is currently affecting many communities: the increase in fees in crèches and daycare centers.

In Bernbeuren, too, people are forced to increase the contributions that parents pay for the care of their children at the St. Nikolaus facility.

The daycare, daycare and after-school care contributions are to increase by a total of around ten percent in two stages.

The first increase will take place in April, the second in September.

The fact that the fees have to be increased is due to the increased personnel and operating costs in the kindergarten, Bernbeuren's mayor Karl Schleich explained at the most recent local council meeting.

“The previous contributions no longer cover costs.” The adjustment is intended to ensure the pedagogical quality of the care.

The contributions are collected by the Catholic Church Foundation of St. Nicholas, which belongs to the diocese of Augsburg.

It is the provider of the Bernbeuren kindergarten, which looks after a total of seven groups.

In addition to a crèche for children up to the age of three, there are two regular groups, two integrative groups, a nature education group and an after-school care center for school children up to the 4th grade.

Child care in Bernbeuren is becoming more expensive: the provider has to adjust fees

The Free State of Bavaria subsidizes kindergarten fees with a monthly amount of 100 euros per child.

That's why the fees for a regular child will continue to be below the level of previous years, said Schleich.

The provider currently charges a monthly fee of 210 euros for a child who is cared for three to four hours a day in the Bernbeuren crèche.

The same care time in kindergarten currently costs 115 euros, which, due to the state subsidy, de facto means a parent's share of 15 euros.

For a school child who is in after-school care for one to two hours a day, 73 euros are currently charged.

Both the contributions in the crèche and kindergarten as well as those in the after-school care center will now increase.

Per booking category, i.e. the respective care period, Bernbeuren crèche children and students will have to pay 20 euros more from April.

The contribution for kindergarten children in the regular groups is now increasing by 15 euros per booking category.

Overall, fees increase by around ten percent

In September it will be even more expensive: the contributions to the crèche will increase by a further 25 euros per category.

School child care should even be increased by 37 euros per category.

How much the fees in kindergarten increase also depends on how many hours of care the parents book: the lowest level is 20 euros more expensive, the rest by five euros each.

Compared to other municipalities, the fee increase in Bernbeuren is quite mild at around ten percent.

For example, parents in Ingenried will soon have to shell out a full 25 percent more for kindergarten care.

Mayor Karl Schleich also said that the new contributions would correspond to those in comparable daycare centers in the district.

The local council unanimously approved the increase.

There were no requests to speak.
