The anticipation is huge: On Tuesday the carnival parade will roll through Olching again - probably the most popular in the region.
Olching – 25 floats and various foot groups will present themselves to tens of thousands of crazy spectators.
One thing is new, however: This time it will be much quieter - of course with the same good atmosphere.
And lots of sweets.
The chief organizer of the Olching carnival parade committee, Luca Maier, has already tested it with his people.
Last weekend the crazy team with the typical yellow and blue floats was at the Damische Ritter carnival parade in Munich.
“It was allowed to be a maximum of 85 decibels, but there was still enough atmosphere,” says Maier.
For him it is clear: curbing noise does not mean slowing down Gaudi.
Car as loud as a jet plane
The Olchingers have been following this topic for quite a while.
Complaints kept coming up that sometimes it was just too loud.
The Olching carnival procession should always be family-friendly.
Last year at the latest, individual participants clearly exaggerated things.
“One or two cars exceeded the target by up to 140 decibels.
“That was far too loud,” explains Maier.
That's more noise than a jet plane.
The fire department had already carried out decibel measurements at one point last year on behalf of the city.
Although the cars have to go through the noise check when they are set up, the controls are sometimes turned up again on the track when things get really funny.
Now the district office has put a stop to this.
A maximum of 90 decibels is permitted.
That's still five decibels more than in Munich with the Damische Ritter.
So there will still be the usual bangers that emanate from the cars - but much more eardrum-friendly.
Candy rain is definitely safe
And more good news: There will definitely be a candy shower this year.
As was the case last year, the carnival procession committee will not be able to give the participants a Guadl due to the extremely increased prices.
But the clubs have already stocked up well, reports Maier.
For example, his carnival guild, together with several other clubs, made a large collective order, so that numerous candies will be thrown into the crowd again on Tuesday.
30,000 people are expected again
Maier and his colleagues are really looking forward to the move: “It’s the highlight for the whole city.
We are expecting around 30,000 people who want to celebrate Carnival together.
“We could fill an entire football stadium with that,” says Maier proudly.
However, the organizers' anxious gaze is directed upwards.
“We're a little nervous because we don't know whether the weather will cooperate.
At least it’s not supposed to rain as of now.”
