The Türkenfeld fire department is to get a new vehicle hall.
The municipality has acquired a property in the immediate vicinity of the existing fire station as a location.
Türkenfeld – It has been known since the 1990s that fire fighters need more space in the long term.
At that time, a conscious decision was made against building a new building on a greenfield site.
Instead, further development at the existing location should be sought.
The fire station is part of the ensemble that also includes Türkenfelder Castle.
After an alarm is raised, the emergency vehicles have to move out across the castle courtyard and pass the narrow path between the Linsenmannhaus and the cemetery.
Mayor Emanuel Staffler (CSU) reported to the local council that there have often been near-accidents with arriving firefighters.
Too tight
In addition, there is now a lot of space in the tool shed.
The active participants have 30 centimeters of shoulder-width space to change clothes - half as much as there actually should be.
Regulations regarding gender segregation and the black and white separation of operational and private clothing cannot be adhered to either.
“And the 24 members of the youth fire department have to change in a few square meters in the commander’s office,” says Staffler.
Shortly before Christmas, the community bought a 650 square meter building plot right next to the castle area.
An extension for the fire station is to be built here - a hall for emergency vehicles, changing rooms and sanitary areas.
All other rooms necessary for the operation of the fire department remain in the old fire station, from which a structural connection to the new building must be created.
Extension building
You don't want to invest "x million" in a new building, says Staffler.
A practical extension could probably be built cost-effectively.
The subsidy rates for construction work relating to the fire department have also recently been “significantly increased”.
However, the new building must fit into the overall appearance of the partly listed ensemble.
As a first step, the local council commissioned a feasibility study to create a concept for further planning.
There would be advantages without a fire service in the castle courtyard.
“It would be a great development because the castle courtyard could then be used better,” said Third Mayor Sabeeka Gangjee-Well (Greens).
Concerts, events and the weekly market could be planned and carried out unhindered, and closures of the courtyard would no longer be necessary.
The community could use the old vehicle hall as storage and to store their own vehicles.
Türkenfeld does not have a building yard.
Vehicles and equipment are currently distributed across decentralized locations.
