Geretsried

– There will soon be a strong beer atmosphere not only in Wolfratshausen.

In the neighboring town of Geretsried it will soon be “high the mugs”: the Gartenberger Bunkerblasmusik strong beer festival will take place on March 8th and 9th.

On two evenings, the musicians will create a good atmosphere in the council chamber, and Lent preacher Ludwig Schmid, alias Brother Barnabas, will hold a mirror up to local political celebrities.

Advance ticket sales begin this Saturday.

19th Strong Beer Festival in Geretsried

It is the 19th strong beer festival that the Geretsrieder Kapelle is organizing this year under the direction of Roland Hammerschmied in collaboration with the Ratsstuben landlords Engelbert Fuchs and Zeno Willnhammer.

The bunker brass music provides the program, the innkeepers provide food and drink.

In addition to non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, Salvator beer from the Paulaner brewery in Munich is served - the Paulaner monks invented this bottom-fermented Doppelbock 375 years ago.

With 7.9 percent alcohol (18.3 percent original wort), the barley juice is the brewery's strongest beer.

The innkeepers of the Ratsstuben serve Bavarian-Bohemian delicacies.

Lenten sermon, sawing competition and music

It starts at 7 p.m. on both evenings and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

“Both events will be exactly the same,” announces conductor Hammerschmied in an interview with our newspaper.

“We are eagerly awaiting the annual Lenten sermon,” said the Geretsried culture prize winner.

Presumably the preacher in the monk's habit will not write his speech again until a few days before the strong beer festival.

There will be another sawing competition for the audience this year.

The goal is to saw a slice of a certain weight off a log.

“A good sense of proportion is required,” says Hammerschmied, “and a bit of luck is also part of it.” In addition to the competition for the guests, there are also some musical surprises this year.

There are 458 tickets for each strong beer festival evening.

The price for an admission ticket remains unchanged at 8.99 euros.

Advance sales begin this Saturday, February 10th, at 10 a.m. in the council chambers.

The restaurant is on holiday from February 15th to 26th.

Remaining tickets are available at the box office.
