In Munich's posh club P1, celebrities like to pop the champagne corks.

On Shrove Monday evening, the Schongau carnival society really shakes things up in the club.

Schongau – The P1 in Munich: The noble club in Munich has been known for its strict bouncers for decades.

Anyone who comes in there has a good chance of meeting Munich celebrities - provided they have the necessary change themselves.

A bottle of bubbly or hard liquor costs a few large bills there.

How did it come about that the Schongau carnival prince couple, the Prinzengarde and the Elferrat got an official appearance for Rose Monday in the P1?

You have to know: Traditionally, the police union (GdP) invites you to the “Blue Light Party” in P1 on Rose Monday.

A small recognition for the colleagues who hold down the fort in their stressful police job every day in and around Munich.

“Everything that has to do with blue lights comes to the party,” explains Schongau’s carnival princess Simone Lohbrunner, alias “Princess Simone, I. from the Ingenrieder Schreiner Residence”.

Why does she know this so well?

Of course, as a customs officer she is an insider.

The entire court should come along

So who better to appear at a “blue light party” than a carnival princess who wears a uniform in real life?

The matter was quickly resolved: The party organizers were convinced that Princess Simone and her prince “Tobias, the first of the beautiful Burgga” alias Tobias Schönherr definitely had to appear in P1.

But that's not all: the entire court should come along, including the Prince's Guard.

“We were really happy,” says Lohbrunner, after a guard appearance in P1 in 2021 didn’t work out at short notice.

So that the excitement isn't quite so great, the princess and the entire carnival team have already been promised some tempting refreshments for after the performance: "They promised that they would provide the bubbly for us," explains the princess with a wink.

And SFG President Alexander Blasi is also looking forward to this very special appearance in the state capital.

Because: Of course, you don't have something like that every day.

“I’ve never been to P1 myself,” he explains.

And he speculates: “It will probably be the first and only time.” That’s why he doesn’t want to take it too seriously this evening and has already saved up: “When I’m there, I’ll get a bottle too Buy Jacky and hit him on the head with 200 euros.”

Carnival parade on Sunday in Schongau

At least: The “Shrove Monday P1 commando” will be traveling with a clean entourage.

So the SFG team sets off with a fully occupied coach towards the state capital.

He then drives the entire entourage back home that night - an overnight stay was not possible.

“It's a full program again on Tuesday,” says Blasi, looking ahead to the storming of the town hall.

By the way, the appearance in the P1 is not the only novelty for the FSG this carnival season: on “g'lumperten Thursday” the carnival company took part in the big carnival event in Landsberg for the first time.

With a float, a royal couple, a guard and a council of eleven, of course.

After the Landsberg carnival was reorganized under new leadership, the FSG received an invitation for the parade.

Of course you don't turn down something like that, says Blasi.

Of course, on Sunday you first have to master your own parade in Schongau's old town.

The warm-up begins with performances by the Mini-Garden on Marienplatz, where food will also be provided this year.

The Gaudiwurm itself then traditionally winds its way through the old town from 2 p.m.

The celebrations continue officially on Marienplatz with performances by the Garden.
