The cruise line Aida has introduced the pool towel card.
It could make it more difficult for travelers to reserve a lounger at the pool.
The early bird catches the worm - or the pool lounger, as many vacationers probably think when they possessively place their towel on it.
This approach may prove successful for many if the number of loungers is limited.
But for those who come away empty-handed, it becomes more and more of a nuisance.
So much so that a man has already gone to the district court in Hanover because he almost never had the benefit of a lounger during his vacation in Greece - and was proven right.
However, the problem is not just with hotel pools, but also with the cool water on cruise ships.
Therefore, some ship travelers might be pleased that the Aida shipping company is reintroducing an old rule.
This makes it much more difficult for those reserving loungers to permanently secure the coveted item.
Losing the towel can cost 20 euros on Aidaperla

On the Aidaperla, cruise guests receive a pool towel card when checking in, which they can exchange for a pool towel at an issuing station.
The Ships and Cruises
industry portal reports on this
.
But this also means: Each guest receives a maximum of one pool towel.
If you want a fresh one, you can exchange it at any time - or get a pool towel card again so you can get a new pool towel at a later date.

According to the report, with this measure the shipping company wants to ensure a respectful treatment of the environment and among fellow passengers.
Inevitably, it also makes it more difficult for cruise guests to reserve a lounger.
If you leave the towel unattended, you could run the risk of losing it.
And without a towel there is no return of the pool towel card and losing the card means a fee of 20 euros.
Travelers may then think twice before letting their towel out of their sight.
Pool towel card not only used at Aida
The concept of the pool towel card is not new at Aida.
According to ships and cruises,
this system has been used several times in the past.
Currently it apparently only exists on the Aidaperla.
The shipping company Tui Cruises also has the pool towel card.
According to the portal, when it was introduced, the company pointed out that the cleaning of pool towels could be reduced by 50 percent.
