On Thursday, Women's Carnival, the women were in charge: in Hohenpeißenberg they stormed the town hall in the afternoon and in the evening no men were allowed at the big party in the Tiefstollenhalle.

The mood was still really good – or is that exactly why?

Peißenberg/Hohenpeißenberg – An incredible thing happened in Hohenpeißenberg on Thursday afternoon: aliens stormed the town hall, made a lot of noise and grabbed the key to the municipal administration.

And Mayor Thomas Dorsch and his employees?

They had fun with the colorful hustle and bustle.

Some even allied themselves with the invaders.

They came with a handcart converted into a space taxi, which they parked in front of the town hall entrance.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the corridors of the Hohenpeißenberg town hall were full of aliens, NASA, rockets, planets and stars.

Peter and a few angels had also landed there, bringing with them Aloysius and his cloud, lightning and thunder.

46 alien women who really shook up the town hall in honor of Women's Carnival.

They were welcomed with open arms: the employees had decorated the wedding hall under the roof with streamers and lanterns, there were donuts and rolls and drinks.

The mayor welcomed the aliens: “You have come from space to the Rigi and have taken possession of the town hall.” By Ash Wednesday, the Hohe Peißenberg will now be in alien hands.

City Hall in alien hands until Ash Wednesday

Then Gerlinde Rasch, the second mayor of the earthly Hohenpeißenberg and one of the initiators of the Gaudi at Women's Carnival, took over: “Completely detached from Earth, 46 wild women landed at Major Tom's, with everything about space in their luggage.” The aliens agreed with her Song that was to be played often that day: another version of “Major Tom”.

The visitors from outer space got together in groups such as the “Pigs from Outer Space”, the “Holy Mess in Space” and the “Planetary Group” and each prepared a program item.

The mayor was asked again and again.

There was a lot to laugh about with the sketches, musical interludes, the quiz and the journey into Hohenpeißenberg's future.

Local events were discussed again and again, and there were some creative suggestions, for example flooding the UGG ditches with water so that the place becomes a second Venice.

Some of the aliens ended up at the big women's carnival that evening, which “Gasoline Gang” and “Frohsinn 2000” organized together for the first time in the Tiefstollenhalle in Peißenberg.

Men were not allowed here unless they had to work as musicians or bartenders, for example.

In the foyer, the “Gasoline Gang” provided the entertainment at their bar and a DJ provided the music.

In the large hall of the Tiefstollenhalle there was live music with the band “Zwoaralloa”, a bar and a food counter run by the Peißenberg carnival club “Frohsinn 2000”.

The event provided proof that women can also - or perhaps especially - celebrate properly without men: there was dancing, singing and laughing, swaying and talking.

In both areas the dance floors were packed - at least until almost midnight - but the seating remained mostly unused.

And anyone who had concerns in advance that the deep tunnel hall might be too big for the women's carnival was proven wrong: with around 600 visitors, both the foyer and the hall were well occupied.

Indian women, women in bathrobes and evening dresses, pirates, weather fairies, women dressed as bus stops or floor lamps - everyone had fun.

In between there were dances from the “Frohsinn” guards and the highlight was the men’s guard.

Without men, even women's carnival would be boring.
