Work on the Kochelsee outlet: helicopters and trucks in action

2024-02-10T13:23:55.649Z

Highlights: Renovation work is underway on a stone threshold at the Kochelsee outlet. Trucks and helicopters are used for this purpose. The work will take around six weeks and cost half a million euros. The power of the water has affected the stone threshold since it was built over 100 years ago and caused erosion. A total of 1,000 tons of gravel and 2,000 tonnes of hydraulic stone will be used in the construction project, which will begin soon. The gravel driveway is loosened up after use and the gravel is then distributed below the threshold in the Loisach.

Kochel am See - The power of the water has affected the stone threshold at the outlet of the Kochelsee since it was built over 100 years ago and caused erosion.

So that the water level of Lake Kochel can continue to be reliably controlled in the future via this outlet directly into the Loisach and the outlet controlled by a lock via the short Loisach bypass canal next to it, the stone threshold must be renovated.

Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH points this out in a press release.

Gravel access to the stone threshold is created

The threshold is around 50 meters long and just as wide.

In order to be able to bring in the building material - hydraulic stones and gravel - in a targeted manner, a gravel access road from the island is being built between the two outlets, which can be accessed by trucks carrying loads of gravel and hydraulic stones.

Material will also be delivered by helicopter over three days in order to be able to renovate the area next to the stone threshold.

Kochelsee is lowered to minimum level

The gravel driveway is loosened up after use and the gravel is then distributed below the stone threshold in the Loisach.

This supports the transport of bedload in the Loisach.

A total of 1,000 tons of gravel and 2,000 tons of hydraulic stone will be used in the construction project, which will begin soon.

The material is delivered via the S2062 from Schlehdorf.

According to Uniper, the measure has been coordinated with all authorities.

In total, the work will take around six weeks and cost half a million euros.

During this time, the Kochelsee will be lowered to its minimum level.
