The Meta company announced today (Sunday) changes in recommended content on Instagram and Threads;

Posts by accounts that publish content that is defined as political or dealing with social issues will not be recommended to people who do not follow them.

The change comes as part of Meta's cautious approach to political content.

The suspicious change introduced by Meta only concerns public accounts and only concerns channels for content recommendations including: Feed, Rails, Explore and recommendations to follow.

Pages that publish political content will be able to present their content to their followers in stories and feed without change.

The Meta company offers business accounts on Instagram the "Account Status" tab that allows the account's eligibility to appear in content recommendations to be displayed.

The tab scans the account for content that Meta defines as political and allows account administrators to edit or delete posts to reappear in recommendations.

For users who still wish to see political content in the recommendation areas on Instagram and Threads, a dedicated setting will be added to allow this.

This setting is also expected to be available on Facebook in the future.
