The employees of the Galilee Fruit Factory protest the impending layoffs/Eli Ashkenazi
The workers of the Galil Fruit Factory in Hazor HaGalilit stopped work at the factory this morning (Sunday) and went out to demonstrate, chanting "Livelihood with dignity".
The factory workers briefly blocked the entrance and exit from Chor and Valia.
The factory's management intends to lay off 50 workers out of 128. The reason - the removal of tariffs on imported goods of processed agricultural produce (canned goods, frozen vegetables)
Moti Haziza, chairman of the workers' council at the Fruit of the Galilee factory in Hazor HaGalilit, said that "we are in a war of the Fruit of the Galilee workers for survival and the right to exist.
We don't want charity, we just want to work - we are human beings with families and children.
Woe to the country that allows a factory in the north to close during a war."
