“It teaches you to put fear aside”: discovering the secrets of dubbing at the Mureaux cinema

On the sidelines of its French-speaking film festival, the Frédéric-Darc municipal cinema organized this weekend an introduction to dubbing techniques

As part of its French-speaking film festival for young people, the municipality organized this Saturday afternoon a free cinema dubbing workshop in this Arthouse room bought by the municipality at the end of the 1990s. A way of offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the seventh art, alongside a selection of films offered until this Tuesday.

The festival will close with the screening of the film “Comme un prince” (2023) by Ali Marhyar, partly filmed in Les Mureaux.

During the week, schoolchildren and the general public also discovered the secrets of special effects and the basics of editing.

Stéphane Schitteck, a director from Lyon specializing in cinema teaching, puts his students in real-life conditions.

She is 15 years old and signed up with her 10 year old brother.

“For children, it’s a fun activity but not only that,” she believes.

“The idea is to educate young people to make them aware of the different facets of cinema, to show them that it encompasses several professions,” explains Mohamed Bensouda, Francophonie, international relations and language learning project manager at Les Mureaux.

He is the one who oversees the festival, designed to promote the French language and French-speaking cinema.

The event, coupled with a short film competition of which all the works will be broadcast this Tuesday*, allows you to discover “films from around the world, accessible to all generations”.

“Last year, we recorded around 1,300 entries,” emphasizes Mohamed Bensouda.

We are in the third edition and attendance is increasing.
