Cecilia Morel Montes, widow of
Sebastián Piñera
, published a video in tribute to the deceased former president of Chile after the state funeral that the Chilean Government dedicated to him before the final goodbye
.
“Thank you so much @sebastianpinera.
Soon we will meet again,”
the woman wrote along with the compilation of images spread on social networks.
Less than a week after the helicopter accident that claimed the life of the 74-year-old two-time president of the neighboring country, the former first lady published a video that brings together
old images of Piñera,
which is not specified when they were from, where the former president reads the message he left in a book and that today takes on a new meaning.
“I dream of
a more united Chile
, in which we all recognize each other as equals, in dignity and rights.
A freer, fairer, more prosperous Chile, without violence and in peace," she says.
“I dream of a Chile in which all its children can develop the talents that God gave us, carry out their projects and achieve their dreams.
A Chile where we all live a full and happy life
with our loved ones,” the voice of the former president is heard while images of the official wake held by the government led by
Gabriel Boric are seen.
“If we can dream it, we can do it
,” closes the first message with a voice-over from Piñera during the video of just over two minutes.
The video continues with a record of the funeral where
citizens lined up for hours to say their last goodbye
to the person who governed Chile twice, between 2010 and 2014 and from 2018 to 2022. Some images of the last, most intimate family farewell are also shown. , already in the cemetery.

Among the scenes that were immortalized is that of
his wife receiving a hug from Boric,
who despite being at the antipodes of ideological thought was very close to the family and moved by the tragic death of Piñera.
Boric and former presidents of Chile gave a
guard of honor next to Piñera's coffin,
a moment that was also recorded by cameras and included in the compilation of images published by Morel Montes.
The video was set to music with one of Nino Bravo
's most famous songs ,
A kiss and a flower,
from 1971, which talks about
games and nostalgia.
One of the most emotional moments of the video is the detailed shot of
the drawings that Piñera's grandchildren made to say goodbye to him
and that were placed next to the coffin.
Another moving moment is the tribute paid to him by some of
the miners rescued from the San José mine
in October 2013. The former president remained next to the mine throughout the rescue operation and received each of the saved workers. .
The video concludes with Piñera's voice again.
Sitting at his desk on the occasion of some anniversary – it can be deduced because in front of him there is a small cake with a candle – the former president states: “No one knows the day or the hour, I make a recommendation to all of you
: you must “walking light in this life and preparing for the next
.”
The final image is that of
that same desk, now empty,
while Nino Bravo's melody continues in the background.
