“This part of the station was inaugurated in 1981 to cope with the influx of travelers,” explains Olivier Armillotta, project manager and operations manager for SNCF Réseau Île-de-France.

Since this weekend, a vast operation to modernize these “track devices” which allow trains to branch off has been launched in the largest station in Europe.
“This is an exceptional and essential project,” says Gilles Gautrin, director of modernization and development at SNCF Réseau Île-de-France.
Among the incidents linked to roads which are attributable to the network, switching problems represent 15% of punctuality problems.
