The begging wedding on the dung heap in Egling attracts thousands of onlookers.

It has a tradition in carnival in Bavaria.

Guests watch a funny show.

Egling – “Oh Lord, help us,” pleaded Monsignor Baschheppi (Beppi Hasch).

The priest only reluctantly performed the Eglingen begging wedding on Carnival Saturday, which takes place every ten years.

The sight of the “racy Sieglinde von Dreiphasig” (Simon Raß) and her groom Lois Glouschneider von Bauhofen (Lisa Gröbmair) did not seem to please him - in contrast to the numerous wedding guests, who put on a spectacular show with funny speeches, lively brass music and cheeky were offered songs.

Carnival tradition: Begging wedding in Egling attracts thousands

Before the wedding on Dachner's dung heap, an illustrious church procession lined up at the Oberhauser Gasthof opposite at lunchtime.

It was the start of the procession, accompanied by loud applause from onlookers on the side of the road.

The “Frauen Kirchen Kohr” FKK and “Die Vergehenn” danced on the various party floats.

A pendant with the inscription “Defloration Room” was dedicated to the bride.

Led by the Degerndorf brass band, the Gaudiwurm finally reached its destination after a few stops.

There was a good atmosphere and there was a lot going on: the many guests celebrated their wedding mostly in costume.

Beer, crap and lots of guests: begging wedding is a crowd puller

Wedding host Waldemar von Liftinger zu Peretshofen (Simon Driver) turned up his nose.

“It doesn't smell good there.” In fact, a strange mixture of scents of incense, dung and beer wafted towards the strange wedding party.

This hardly bothered the one-man band Riccarda Baller (Florian Raß) playing on the dung heap: the musician played the accordion, harmonica and drums more or less virtuoso and performed a medley of pop songs, hits and folk songs. Ehrmutter read to the town hall boss Hubert Oberhauser and the local council who were present Glottine von Förghausen (Sebastian Förg) the Levites.

“You will put large mirrors in the farmland so that God's blessing will never reach us again because it will be reflected,” she criticized the open-field photovoltaic system near Neufahrn.

Fire brigade, clubs, footballers and politics: Bavarian carnival customs target everyone

Fire departments, clubs and footballers were also not spared from criticism.

According to Glottine, the only thing that offers a temporary distraction is the begging wedding.

“And on the day before the great wailing and lamentation, men will become women and women will become men and they will celebrate a licentious celebration that will be so extravagant and blasphemous that the devil will go into their stomachs and heads the next day will,” predicted the honorary mother.

Prayer for Augustiner beer: The clergy know worldly pleasures

This was followed by cheeky songs from the church choir of the boys and girls club, which had organized the begging wedding.

Even the Three Kings Clausthaler, Maxlrainer and Paulaner paid homage to the bride and groom five weeks late.

Nevertheless, Pastor Baschheppi condemned the vicious life of the future couple.

In his opinion, a small “work-shy free beer tester” and a large “carnivorous plant” simply don’t go together.

After questioning the two witnesses, Kadeda Simmal von Denhausen (Simone Aichler) and Kiliane von Torte die Weindlige (Kilian Wintersberger), the couple put on the rings - the so-called trap irons - despite all the criticism.

“Celibacy would have been the better option for you,” resigned the priest.

The Eglingen version of the Bavarian carnival customs ended with a shower of confetti, choir singing and a final prayer for the holy Augustinian beer.

The celebration at snack and drink stands and in the pub lasted until midnight.
