Around 400 participants and 30 floats as well as foot troops, plus around 1,800 spectators: That was the Grainau carnival procession.

Visitors and locals had to do without it for a long time.

Grainau – After a seven-year break it was finally back: the carnival procession in Grainau.

A very special fun worm meandered through the Zugspitzdorf yesterday afternoon.

And everyone had a lot of fun.

How much the whole place was looking forward to this event became clear to everyone when it was set up.

The parade had a good 400 participants, and around 30 floats and foot groups got ready.

A real eye-catcher: The Grainau Eibsee Bixen are impressive visually alone - and the atmosphere on the car is also appropriate.

In the past few weeks, many people from Grainau had followed the Fosenachtsverein's call, thought about it and worked diligently on their cars and structures.

They implemented a variety of ideas.

There was little political discovery at the Maschkera parade this year; the focus was on tradition with many larvae, but especially on pure fun.

There were lots of funny topics to have fun with.

Distribute sweets with a slingshot

Led by the club standard, the procession of drummers and the band in their dashing knight costumes opened the procession.

Their offspring received a lot of applause as they brought sweets to the numerous spectators with a “slingshot” – and of course not stones, but polystyrene balls instead.

Around 1,800 visitors probably came to watch the carnival spectacle.

They had secured a good spot, especially in the area from the Upper Village Square to Café Nuss on Waxensteinstrasse and near the Lower Village Square.

Crowded tightly and full of anticipation, they followed the lively hustle and bustle and the events that repeatedly brought the train to a standstill when it stopped on the street - much to the delight of the audience, of course.

The board committee led by Korbinian Riesch and Ignaz Schwinghammer, all equipped with old police uniforms, worked together with the fire department to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Shortly before the end of the event, Riesch gave his first summary.

“Everything went well.” The chairman was also happy about the “many original cars.

And we were also lucky with the weather.”

A special kind of traveling circus: Not only the large floats and foot groups, but also and especially the small ideas make the Grainau parade worth seeing.

One of the attractions was the newly built “Altweibermühle”.

The young millers in their white work clothes were constantly on the lookout for suitable ladies, who they put head first into the funnel from the side of the road and who came out at the back of the slide miraculously transformed.

Brilliant.

This wasn't the only highlight.

The mountain rescue service had positioned itself with its exposed “Hölla-doi toilet”, presenting various brushes and plenty of T-paper.

Of course the team around Florian Dörfler, Hanni Ostler and Erwin Ehlers had a lot of fun.

The Garmisch Fosenachtsverein was there with a 25-person foot group and Maschkera music, and other Garmisch-Partenkirchen residents made a great atmosphere at their après-ski alpine pasture.

The traditional alternated with the modern again and again.

There was a fair to be seen and a small traveling circus, the mothers' association discussed “deceasing”, a group of clowns sought contact with the spectators and provided a lot of fun.

Even the last Eibsee bus made its rounds, a Gunglstube brought back memories of earlier times, and a saloon with a piano was reminiscent of the old US Westerns.

In any case, it was great fun for everyone that didn't end on the street.

To the sounds of “Zwoaraloa-Musi”, the people of Grainau and their guests continued to celebrate in the Kurhaus for a long time.
