There was a fire in Neustadt an der Aisch that left one person critically injured.

The man later died in hospital.

Update from February 11th

: After a house fire in Neustadt an der Aisch in Central Franconia, a critically injured man died in hospital a short time later.

As the police announced on Sunday, a fire broke out in the 43-year-old's apartment on the ground floor of an apartment building early on Friday morning.

When the fire brigade and police arrived at the scene of the fire, flames were already coming out of a window in the apartment.

According to the information, most of the residents left the house themselves, while the 43-year-old was initially missing.

Firefighters eventually rescued the man from the burning apartment.

He therefore had to be resuscitated on site and was then taken to a clinic.

It was initially unclear exactly why the fire broke out, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday.

However, initial investigations into the cause of the fire indicated that the fire was probably caused by negligence.

Initial investigations indicate negligent arson

When the emergency services arrived, the flames were already coming out of an apartment window, according to the police.

While most of the residents were able to escape from the house in time, the 43-year-old was initially missing.

A short time later, firefighters found the man in the burning apartment and rescued him from there.

He had to be resuscitated on site and was then taken to a hospital.

The fire department was able to finish extinguishing the fire around 7 a.m.

According to police, the property damage is in the five-figure range.

According to the Ansbach criminal police, the fire was probably caused negligently.
