César Caytano
(23) was in the patio of a friend's house when three people burst into the place and riddled him with bullets.
The crime, with the seal of the hitmen, occurred in Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones,
near the Argentina-Brazil border
.
In fact, it is suspected that the murderers escaped to the neighboring country.
The brutal event was recorded by the security cameras of the house in the Vista Alegre neighborhood.
The attackers needed
less than 10 seconds
to break in, complete the crime and flee the side yard of the house where Caytano and a friend were sitting checking social media on their cell phones on the hot Thursday night.
The victim managed to see that people were approaching from his left side, but as soon as he looked up he was shot at at least six times at very close range.
At the scene the Police found the shell casings of a 9 millimeter caliber weapon.
The murder occurred minutes after 9 p.m. and the images show that only one of the three attackers shot Caytano, who was rushed to the Bernardo de Irigoyen Hospital but arrived without vital signs.
As soon as he received the bullets, the young man grabbed his face before collapsing onto the lounge chair he was sitting on,
scattering some of the money he was carrying
.
His friend, meanwhile, ran away as soon as she noticed the situation, but based on the images it was established that the hitmen had Caytano as their only target.
The hired killers arrived at the scene aboard a Volkswagen Golf that they abandoned a few blocks away.
The first indications indicate that they crossed towards the town of Dionisio Cerqueira, Brazil.
The young man who was shot was the stepson of
Lindomar de Oliveira Cunha
(40), a man who was dedicated to the informal exchange of foreign currency and the sale of Argentine wines that were destined for the Brazilian market.
The merchant was attacked with bullets inside his car on May 3, 2023. According to him, Caytano continued with the informal currency exchange business.
Ridden.
César Caytano was surprised and murdered by hitmen at a friend's house, in Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones.
The crime occurred at 5:50 p.m. when the man parked his Toyota Corolla in front of a bar, meters from the international border.
The murderers arrived aboard a black Honda Titan motorcycle, stood next to the window and after a few words, shot the victim in the head and chest.
De Oliveira Cunha lived in the town of Dos Hermanas but his commercial activity was centered in Bernardo de Irigoyen, where he was dedicated to currency exchange, and in parallel he had set up a business for the sale of expensive Argentine wines that were destined for each increasingly demanding Brazilian market.
In an armed compartment in the car's torpedo, the Police found hidden
131,000 reais and 41,700 dollars
, which led investigators to rule out the attempted robbery.
After Lindomar's death, his son had continued managing the foreign currency trading business.
A hot area with several crimes at the hands of hitmen
The cases of hitmen in Bernardo de Irigoyen began in 2021 and the victims were
people linked to informal trade with Brazil or family members
.
In December 2022, in the Provincias Unidas neighborhood, teacher
Carla Betina De Olivera
(37), who was in a Renault Sandero Stepway with her husband, Ismael Sergio Batista Camargo (42), also linked to the foreign currency exchange.
A few months earlier, in September, a hitman shot eight people to death
Sebastián Fernández Da Rosa
, alias “Chany”, 42 years old, who was dedicated to commerce and was a member of the board of directors of the Bernardo de Irigoyen Volunteer Firefighters.
The man was shot when he opened his store.
In 2021 the victims were a lawyer who was looking to venture into the “export” of wines across the dry border;
and a few months later another merchant was executed when he stopped his truck at a traffic light in Irigoyen.
In addition to the cases of contract killings, in the last three years there have been at least two other murders of people linked to border trade.
