An 18-year-old Austrian mistook the FTO for a motorway and was frightened when oncoming traffic came.
She crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into an oncoming car.
Oberding – A head-on collision occurred late on Friday evening on the Airport Tangente Ost (FTO) at the Erding Nord junction.
The Erding police station reports that an 18-year-old Austrian woman drove onto the motorway.
However, she mistook this for a motorway and was therefore frightened when oncoming traffic came into the left lane.
The police wrote in the press report: “Due to the shock, the young woman lost control of her car and drove into the oncoming lane.”
There she collided head-on with the car of a 57-year-old from the Freising district.
According to initial information, both drivers suffered minor to moderate injuries in the traffic accident and were taken to nearby hospitals.
The vehicles had to be recovered by the towing service.
The FTO was completely closed for around two hours while the police were investigating the accident.
Numerous fire brigades and rescue services were deployed.
